ABSENT SUPERMODELS: The Last Chance Double Header
Part punk, part new wave, a little bit of country, plenty of pop, lots of rock n roll, but never out of fashion". That's the mission statement from mod-rockers SUPERMODELS. They're living the high life off their successful SUPERMODERN album released earlier this year. Just like their ethos, they're for fans of British rock and roll of all eras, as well as the many sounds and looks of the seventies.
The second half of the double header is ABSENT LOVERS. A buzzing new Melbourne supergroup-of-sorts featuring members of The Unknowns, The Cavemen, Sin City and Fruit Tones joining forces to create brand new rock and roll hits. Generating all kinds of chatter around the inner city's front bars, hear a blend of power pop, proto-punk, British Invasion rock and roll, and good, honest Aussie pub rock.
Rounding out the lineup is SMOOTH BRAINS, a fast, passionate, catchy and in your face band who set out to uniquely blend 1960’s garage with its 2000’s revival. This is a band with a carefree malaise doing what they want to do, and well.
Then there's MINIBUS who just do not slow down in a quest to take over the world one carpool lane at a time. Their Flying Nun-era pop songs will get stuck in your head for days, including their debut single "Plants and Animals".
